Final adjustments or fine
tuning is done so that the children may enter the adult world with their appearance and
communication restored to normal.
The surgeries that may be needed include scar revisions, rhinoplasty and
jaw surgery to correct malocclusion. Rhinoplasty and jaw surgery are best done when the
facial growth is complete. This normally occurs by the age of 16-18 years.
This is the protocol that is
followed by our Craniofacial Center as well as many others throughout the country. At
times it may be necessary to vary the protocol to address problems specific to a child.
