Beautigul grand daughter born about 2 weeks ago, and wonderful
to hug and hold. She was born without a palate. The Doctors
explained that because in her 13th week in the uterus, her tongue
was pointing straight up, causing it to lay on the roof of her
mouth, and therefore did not allow the tissue on the roof of her
mouth to grow. If the tongue had laid in the normal position, it
would have allowed the chin to grow. I write all this because I
did not read this anywhere in the online email from folks. She
had surgery last week and the Doctors sewed her tongue to her lip
and then through her chin. The button under her chin will come
off this week coming. The reason for the surgery is that because
her tongue is (normal size) but too big for her small jaw. The
Doctors are saying that the tongue (now in normal position) will
force the jaw to grow. We are not sure that she has the pierre
roban syndrome but it sure sounds like it.
