We are a family of seven, one of our children was born with a
bilateral cleft lip and palate. He is 11 years old and still has
a lot of operations ahead. We just got informed a couple days ago
that Children with Special Health Crae Needs in Madison, Wi had
been cancelled as a program to help cleft kids. My husband and I
both have good average job, but we don't make enough to be able
to afford health insurance, but we make too much to qualify for
state assistance and may other programs. We have waited for nine
and a half months for my sons orthodontic treatment to start and
his first appointment is next month, and we just got notified that
there would be no-one to cover this so we need to cancel this
appointment and delay all further operations until we can afford
insurnce. We would love to be able to whip out a couple thousand
but this just isn't possible. If we delay my sons operations and
much needed orthodontic care, which is needed at this time before
any other operations can be done,(relining teeth and the jaw
etc.)he will end up being 16 before anything is done and that
will leave a bigger emotional scar than any operation ever could.
We want only the best for him and it seems like we are stuck
between a rock and a hard place. Does anyone know where we could
find some very much needed help and real fast??? Thank you for
listening and any help you could give ,this is just so
frustrating,,and to make it even worse I was unofficially told by
my sons cleft social worker that I should consider quitting my
job in order to have my son covered under the state??? please
